Deimos successfully renews maturity level 3 of the CMMI model

Deimos has successfully renewed the maturity level 3 of the CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) model, a globally recognized benchmark for quality and process improvement in software engineering.

The renewal appraisal, known as a “sustainment appraisal,” was conducted by CAELUM in March 2024 for the software development projects executed by Deimos Space and Deimos Engineering and Systems across various business units, including Ground Segment, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Avionics, Transportation, and Digital Transformation.

The assessment details are publicly available at the Public Appraisal Results System (PARs).

The CMMI model serves as a process improvement standard, offering organizations best practices and essential elements to enhance the effectiveness, maturity, and capability of their processes. Achieving maturity level 3 signifies that processes, methods, and tools are well-defined, understood, standardized, proceduralized, and continuously optimized.

Among its numerous benefits, CMMI contributes to:

  • Ensuring compliance with requirements and meeting customer needs and expectations.
  • Enhancing product quality and consistency in production.
Reducing costs by minimizing defects and rework.
  • Improving project planning, monitoring, control, and risk management.
  • Optimizing “time to market,” ensuring efficient and timely delivery of products and services according to the planned schedule.

Luis Castillo Zugasti, Director of Quality and Management Systems at Deimos and the sponsor of this appraisal, remarked: “CMMI provides us with an ideal framework for the continuous improvement of our processes and offers the best practices in software engineering and project management. CMMI helps us strengthen and enhance the efficiency of our processes, making us more competitive in the market. This accreditation, along with the rest of Deimos’ certifications, underscores our commitment to quality, excellence, and continuous improvement.”
