DEIMOS MANAGEMENT AND ANTI-CORRUPTION BEST PRACTICES RECERTIFIED BY BUREAU VERITAS UNDER UNE 19601 AND ISO 37001 STANDARDS

The Deimos Group companies Deimos Space, S.L.U. and Deimos Engineering and Systems, S.L.U., along with the foreign subsidiaries Deimos Space UK LTD (United Kingdom), Deimos Engenharia, S.A. (Portugal), and Deimos Space S.R.L. (Romania), have been awarded UNE 19601 and ISO 37001 certificates by Bureau Veritas. This recertification follows an audit confirming that the penal compliance and anti-bribery system of Deimos Group is a highly effective tool in preventing crimes, mitigating risks, and managing any illicit conduct. Both certifications are accredited by ENAC (National Accreditation Entity) and validate Deimos Group’s commitment to responsible management and best practices in this domain.
Deimos Group boasts a robust compliance management system, rooted in the compliance management system of the Elecnor Group, constantly benefiting from feedback. Deimos Space, S.L.U. was among the first companies in the space sector to obtain UNE 19601 and ISO 37001 certificates (first awarded by AENOR in 2019), taking a significant step forward in penal compliance within the sector. Since then, it has further strengthened its policies, internal regulations, continuous employee training, and is currently progressing in its ambitious digital transformation process for compliance management, among other initiatives.
Bureau Veritas has been the independent certification entity responsible for external evaluation and control, verifying that the company’s Penal and Anti-bribery compliance system complies with the requirements set by the national standard UNE 19601 and international standard ISO 37001. The recertification in both standards reaffirms its adherence to Spanish regulatory compliance and international anti-bribery standards. The certificates issued by Bureau Veritas have been granted to Deimos Group companies, with a validity of 3 years.

The FLEX mission, an integral component of ESA’s Living Planet Programme, will redefine the way we monitor and understand Earth’s vegetation health and photosynthetic activity. Scheduled for launch in 2025, FLEX holds the promise of providing global maps of vegetation fluorescence, essential for assessing plant health, stress levels, and their impact on the global carbon cycle. These insights will be invaluable for agricultural management and addressing the burgeoning challenges of global food security.

Elecnor Deimos, with its extensive experience and cutting-edge capabilities in space technology, will lead the development of the Flex’s Mission Planning Facility, the central hub for planning the satellite’s payload activities, ensuring the successful execution of FLEX’s ambitious mission objectives.
Key functions of the FMPF will include orchestrating the FLORIS instrument’s nominal measurement mode over specific ground areas, managing various instrument calibration modes, and facilitating X-band data dumps through a network of supporting acquisition stations. The FMPF is expected to streamline mission operations and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of FLEX’s data collection efforts.

This contract for the FLEX mission follows a series of successful Mission Planning Facility (MPF) wins by Deimos for various Earth observation (EO) missions, including Biomass, Aeolus, Sentinel-2, and LuxEOSys, underlining Deimos’ track record in supporting critical EO missions. Deimos has also developed the Planning Facility for the European Exoplanet hunter CHEOPS, showcasing its diverse capabilities and expertise.

The development of the FMPF has already commenced in the last quarter of 2023 and Deimos is committed to delivering the first version of this pivotal tool by the end of the March 2024. This milestone will mark a significant step toward realizing the goals of the FLEX mission.
